SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Preparing periodic financial reports and analysis, reviewing and reconciling data, and assist in implementing and enforcing financial controls and procedures. Oversees and prepares entries and adjustments to Company records. Assists with budget and reforecast preparation. Provides senior managers with information necessary for decision-making. Taking a pivotal lead in the planned transformative system change project for the retail business.
Main duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Ensure that accounting functions and duties are accurately and promptly completed.
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile bank transactions.
- Review financial information needed to ensure an accurate statement of the division’s financial position for senior management.
- Prepare monthly financial statements including balance sheet reconciliations, profit and loss analysis and statement of cash flow.
- Perform year-end close out procedures.
- Research and resolve accounting errors and discrepancies.
- Assist with budget preparations and financial analyses.
- Monitor costs and expenses.
- Ensure that accounting functions are completed in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulations.
- Take the lead position for preparing and leading the retail division through a planned system change
- Inventory control, including creating new items and updating prices in the system
- Super user for the retail staff computer logins
- Entering the monthly promotions and other special prices in the system
- Participate in store stock counts, and upload updates to the system
- Be the ultimate contact for customer queries and the lead liaison for banks
- Ensure accurate and timely weekly, monthly and annual reports.
- Preparation of ad hoc reports for senior management
- Line manager responsibilities
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree, with a focus in Accounting or Business Studies
- Professional accounting qualification from a recognized institution
- A minimum of 4 years’ post qualification accounting experience
- Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite including advanced Excel skills
- Experience with ERP accounting systems is essential. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations specifically would be highly valued.
- Experience with implementing system change would be highly valued.
- A passion for new technology, and experience and strong interest in process improvement.
- Excellent organizational and management skills
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills; including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
- Ability to multi-task, accurately work under pressure, meet and establish required deadlines, and prioritize and work with multiple liaisons.
- Meticulous attention to detail; conscientious about quality and accuracy in work product.
- Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
- Occasional weekend or public holiday work may be required.
Remuneration is from CI$80,000 – CI$95,000 per annum commensurate with experience.
Applicants must be willing to work late shifts, weekends and public holidays where needed. A clear Police record and fluency in English is required. Package includes health insurance and pension benefits as specified by Cayman Islands law.
