Power Generation Operator

We are accepting applications for the following position:

POWER GENERATION OPERATOR


The Power Generation Operator is responsible for the operations portions of power plants. Monitors and operates process control equipment, including valving, packaging, engineering and interpreting plant procedures.

RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE:

  • Control a variety of power- generation equipment and machinery during operations including monitor boilers, generators, and auxiliary equipment, scheduled maintenance and emergency repair procedures.
  • Distribute power among generators, ensuring consistent and reliable electricity is produced for the island.
  • Regulate output from generators.
  • Start and stop generators.
  • Alter amount of electricity output.
  • Ensure plant adheres to safety and environmental rules in accordance with OfReg health and safety standards for all activities and company policies.
  • Implement plant improvement projects.
  • Identify process deviations and perform root cause/ corrective action.
  • Conduct area inspections and audits.
  • Perform calibration check of scale accuracy at the beginning of each work shift.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot operating equipment.
  • Maintain all plant equipment; Perform preventative and routine maintenance.
  • Observe gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Maintain quality of all products and prepare appropriate material lists and reports to be submitted to management.
  • Monitor meters, gauges and control boards to verify operational parameters, and make adjustments to distribution, generator output, voltage and electricity flow rates according to standard protocols and power grid requirements.
  • Follow all relevant safety protocols and legal codes to ensure proper operation of equipment and minimize risk of damage to property and personnel.
  • Participate in regular training to improve performance, acquire professional licenses, and maintain certification required by company and government regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with other power plant personnel, including managers, engineers, and repair technicians to encourage teamwork and coordinate tasks.
  • Monitor and provide routine inspections of all equipment to ensure its smooth and safe operation. Maintain optimal working condition of all products and recommend improvements to production processes.
  • Assist with inventory controls, replenishing inventory as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineering license preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in power generation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to multitask effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, evenings and public holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

  • Able to stand throughout a shift, walk through the facility, reach for objects, navigate tight spaces, climb stairs and ladders and perform gross and fine motor tasks.
  • May be exposed to a noisy, humid, and hot environment surrounded. Temperatures will vary at any given time.
  • Environment contains hazardous/special waste including fuel and oil.
  • Frequent standing, bending, walking, and lifting required.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary.

Salary: CI$3,000 – CI$4,000 per month

Benefits: In accordance with Cayman Islands law
