We are accepting applications for the following position:

TRANSMISSION & DISTRIBUTION ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR 


The Transmission and Distribution Assistant Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising field work associated with the operation, maintenance and routine construction of the electric distribution system

RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist in directing and supervising the activities of personnel engaged in the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of all overhead transmission, distribution, and service lines and related equipment in the electric system.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations in line with OfReg health and safety standards for all operations and business policies.
  • Provide guidance and training on work procedures, safety practices, and technical requirements.
  • Promote an environment at work where communication and teamwork are valued and encouraged.
  • Analyze distribution circuits and direct or schedule the transfer of portions of loads when necessary to operate the electric system at maximum efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and determine corrective actions.
  • Follow all relevant safety protocols and legal codes to ensure proper operation of equipment and minimize the risk of damage to property and personnel.
  • Contribute towards coordinating pole placements, load requirements, and system switching for line and equipment maintenance.
  • Respond to emergency calls, work to resolve problems, and restore service.
  • Partake in field inspections and audits to verify adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Read and interpret electrical plans and wiring and equipment diagrams.
  • Read and understand voltage recordings and meter histories to evaluate voltage-related problems.
  • Prepare written reports, recommendations, correspondence, and document incidents and accidents.
  • Participate in regular training to improve performance, acquire professional licenses, and maintain certification required by company and government regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with other power plant personnel, including managers, engineers, Power Generation team, and repair technicians to encourage teamwork and coordinate tasks.
  • Coordinate effectively with contractors, developers, and other stakeholders to resolve utility-related issues.
  • Conduct duties independently with little supervision.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a Cayman Islands Lineman’s Certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a supervisory position with an electric utility or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a Heavy Vehicle Operator License or Cayman Island Group 4 License.
  • Must possess experience working with voltages of up to 13kv.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to assign and evaluate the work of subordinate personnel.
  • Able to multitask effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read design drawing and wiring diagrams.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and be able to work with little supervision

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to stand throughout a shift, walk through the facility, reach for objects, navigate tight spaces, climb stairs and ladders and perform gross and fine motor tasks.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Work is primarily performed outdoors.
  • May be exposed to a noisy, humid, and hot environment. Temperatures will vary at any given time.
  • Environment contains hazardous/special waste including fuel and oil.
  • Frequent standing, bending, walking, and lifting required.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary.

 

Salary: CI$4,200 - CI$5,800 per month

Benefits: In accordance with Cayman Islands law
