Sales Associate

POSITION OVERVIEW

Sales Associates are responsible for supporting the daily activities of the store with the goal of optimizing sales and profitability while providing exemplary customer service with a positive shopping experience.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities and job duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Greet every customer and provide them with genuine service including product information, make suggestions, handle special requests and resolve queries promptly in a professional manner.
  • Process customer purchases through the use of POS system for credit cards, debit cards, checks, gift certificates, and cash, in accordance with established policies.
  • Balance the cash register at the end of each shift or as scheduled.
  • Wrap, package, and/or bag merchandise appropriately.
  • Follow store policies for merchandise returns.
  • Maintain the integrity and safety of cash management systems.
  • Answer telephone calls courteously and provide callers with information as requested.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area including sales floor to ensure it is free from debris by cleaning floors, clearing cases, dusting and organizing shelves, coolers and/or storage areas.
  • Work to prevent damage and theft of merchandise, and preserve materials in saleable condition.
  • Maintain proper security measures and cash drawer accounting procedures.
  • Stock and rotate products to ensure freshness and date control, inspecting for damage.
  • Assist with the set-up of merchandising displays, in-store promotions, sales programs.
  • Restock shelves, counters, racks, and tables with merchandise.
  • Project a positive company image to the public.
  • Report faulty equipment and safety hazards to management.
  • Assist with inventory functions as needed.
  • Other key duties requested by store Team Leader and/or Retail Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Must be minimum 18 years of age.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience with cash register functions and processing payments.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess strong organization skills and attention to detail.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent standing required.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 15 pounds and may occasionally be required to lift up to 25 pounds.

**MUST BE ABLE TO WORK LATE SHIFTS, WEEKENDS AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
