Retail Accounting Manager

RETAIL ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Retail Accounting Manager will oversee the accurate recording and reconciliation of daily retail transactions, ensuring financial data integrity. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the financial health and operational efficiency of our retail business.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Oversee accounting functions across multiple retail outlets, including AP, AR, reconciliations and cash management, inter-company allocations.
• Compile and prepare monthly financial statements and complete working papers in compliance with recognized accounting standards, ensuring accurate and timely reporting across    all retail outlets.
• Track store-level financial performance and analyze variances to budget and forecast.
• Partner with store managers to review sales reports, transactions and cash deposits to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Maintain and improve internal procedures and controls, especially in high-value merchandise environments.
• Partner with finance leadership to support the budgeting and forecasting process across retail stores and departments, contributing financial analysis and operational insights.
• Establish and maintain effective business relations with vendors and clients.
• Deliver excellent leadership; provide training and oversight on retail accounting procedures, assign team members clear accountability backed by appropriate authority.
• Conduct annual performance appraisals with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assist with system upgrades or transitions as needed on POS or inventory management systems.

Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a retail accounting role.
• Proven ability to manage financials for multiple store locations.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a team.
• Experience in managing accounts payable and completing reconciliations is required
• Strong understanding of retail specific metrics.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (expert level in Excel, Word, PowerPoint required).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization and accuracy.
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills; including the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization, as well as outside parties.
• Must maintain a high standard of professionalism and ethical behavior at all times.
• The ability to work in a team environment, required.
• The ability to multi-task, accurately work under pressure, meet and establish required deadlines, prioritize and work with multiple liaisons.

 

SALARY: CI$50,000 – CI$75,000 pa
